Sebastian Münster – German humanist cosmographer, like most scientists of that time had extensive knowledge and initiative. It is impossible to ignore his cartographic achievement in the sphere of scientific heritage.
For 1520–1530-ies in everyday life there were already enough new maps of exceptional level: Portuguese, Spanish and Italian maps, maps by Waldseemüller , many copies by Nikolay Kuzansky and other similar regional maps. Therefore, the maps by Sebastian Münster were more of compiled character, which does not detract the dignity of the great scientist. As his main task was to create an encyclopedia of the Universe, whose complete image was supposed to be an accurate map of the world.
